Artist Statement

I am a multi-media sculptor with a deep fascination with the unceremonious moments of everyday life, and those who inhabit it. I find real life to be beautiful and absurd. Living in a world of ever-growing tension and strife, I find it important to acknowledge and respect the little things. I am intrigued by human beings, and find characterization in our environments, our belongings, and who we interact and associate with. I combine this interest, a sense of humor and cynicism, and passion for the ritual of creating, to create snapshots of our world, that a wide range of people can resonate with.

With a love of narrative and visual storytelling, I make figures and objects that feel as if they are a component of a living, breathing world. My work delves into themes of humanity, community, empathy, ethics, and introspection. Through a blending of absurdist, surrealist imagery, with hyper realistic techniques, I make highly illustrative, exaggerated caricatures of our world, that simultaneously feel grounded in reality. By removing the outward seriousness of these scenes, the work becomes more inviting and compelling to a broader audience. Through an exploration of shared experience, I strive to find the connective tissue that unites us all as one.
